Essentially Paper Liniments

dictionary.com defines liniments as a liquid or semiliquid preparation for rubbing on or applying to the skin, as for sprains or bruises, usually soothing or counterirritating.
At Essentially Paper our liniments are packed with more than double the amount of essential oils so you only need a very small scoop. We recommend cutting the liniment with a carrier oil before adding an additional scoop because we put so many essential oils into the liniments. You can use your own carrier oil or grab one from our store on your way out. You should start with the least amount of liniment that you need, this way you can save money and get a much longer shelf life out of your liniment. Some people need more than others, so if you determine that one small scoop is not effective you can reapply. If you need an extra boost to your liniment you can apply a heating pad or hot compress over the area(s) of concern and it will help to drive the oils deeper into the tissues in the body.
You should always check with your child's medical health professional before using essential oils on your child. This is the best way to find out if there are any oils you should avoid due to medical diagnosis your child has and any possibility of contradiction with medications your child may be on. If you are using oils on your child please remember to use sunscreen often. Oils, particularly citrus, can cause serious burns from sun exposure to areas of the body that they have used oils on.
Our liniments are made of a base of carrier oils that include but are not limited to shea butter, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, vitamin e, grapeseed and beeswax.
Once the base has been melted and mixed together a single mold is filled and as it cools, carefully selected essential oils are added to the mold and then gently hand whisked until the mixture starts to firm. This is done one at a time by hand to protect the essential oils as well as to make sure that all ingredients are evenly distributed through out the mold. They are then left to harden over night and then they are packaged into metal tins with screw on tops.
The consistency of the liniments need to be taken into account and not left in a hot car, purse or your pocket. The oils will melt and most likely come out of the tin. If your oils do melt you should bring them into a cool area and allow the mixture to harden up again. It is recommended that you gently stir the mixture in the tin to make sure that all of the ingredients are properly mixed together.
If you’re looking for a portable option, all of our liniments are available in our store as essential oil blends. The blend bottles are perfect for carrying with you for on the go applications and you can customize your purchase with a silicone sleeve so you can attach your blend to your keys, purse or gym bag for anywhere application.
Yes! If you are nursing or pregnant you have to be careful about what oils you are using. Discussing them with your midwife, OBGYN or primary care physician will give you the best answer for your individual situation. Some oils should not be used by people who have epilepsy or high blood pressure. The other major precaution you need to be aware of is that some oils, mostly but not limited to citrus oils can increase the likelihood of getting sunburns and you should take all the precautions necessary to protect your skin from the sun especially after using blends containing citrus oils. If you have questions about our products please ask but we want to urge you to care for your skin in the sun regardless of your essential oil usage so it is always best to apply sunscreen and keep the areas of your body that you applied oils to out of the sun for 12-24 hours.
If you are using the liniments on your feet please remember that you are applying all kinds of oils and if your feet get wet they will become slippery. Use extreme caution when getting into a shower or tub. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication, or have a medical condition, consult a health professional prior to use. This product is for external use only. Use caution when exposing your skin to the sun especially if using any citrus oils. Keep away from children.
